Decking has never gone out of fashion but technology has progressed. We offer the traditional redwood decking, durable and tough hardwood and our thermo decking Lunawood. If you don’t fancy timber we can now offer as the increasing popular composite decking. Which ever option you choose all will need annual maintenance to keep them at their best.

Did You Know?

It has become popular in recent years to install decking with the grooves facing up. People believe it will aid with grip. This phenomenon is now so popular that many manufactures produce decking with the grooves as the main face to meet current fashion trends. However installation in this way is actually incorrect. The smooth side should be placed face up. Decking gets slippery as it is not maintained correctly. The grooves can hold onto water and dirt increasing the risk of slipping.

Is Composite Expensive?

The range of composite options available on the market today is huge but not all are created equal. Composite decking at the lowest end of the market tend to suffer from fading, splitting and issues in general. We only supply mid to higher end quality boards from suppliers we trust. You should expect to pay approx. four times the cost for a mid range composite board vs a standard softwood decking board.

Next is the framing. Do not skimp on your framing due to the cost of the boards themselves. Composite decking should be installed according the the manufactures instruction but this is normally between 300-400mm on the joist centres. UC4 treated timber along with deck tape will help your subframe stand the test of time.

Our final top tips;

Avoiding digging in the support legs and place them on pads, use post tape for added protection.

Use quality fixings, including stainless steel for the installation of hardwood boards.
