All timber species will naturally fade over time. Our redwood will fade to a silvery/ soft grey in around 12- 18 months depending on the exposure level. We recommend the use of oils to ‘feed’ the timber and to slow down the UV fading process. Our most popular options are Decking Oil and Amour Flex Ultimate UV Protector.
If you wish to add more colour then we recommend the solvent based Wood Treatment in a range of colours by Barrettine. Additional timber treatments should only be applied once the pressure treatment has had a chance to settle. The weather should be mild and dry but please follow all manufacturer’s instructions.
We recommend stainless steel fixings are used.
Timber is a natural products and it will have knots, as well as movements or splits which can occur at any time. We do not consider these to be defects.
We strongly recommend that a 10% waste factor is added to your project but especially to venetian fencing projects.
