Produced here in the UK. Green cut Larch will be wet and reasonably heavy upon arrival. We recommend the use of stainless steel fixings
Natural characteristics will be on full show these include splits, knits, loose bark and movement (bends/twist/bows) These are not considered defects. Ends are not cut square. You should over order on your requirements by 15%- 20% Larch will natural fade to silver in 6-12 months due to exposure to UV light and moisture.
Our Larch is produced to order by a very small family owned mill the lead time is approx. 2-3 weeks depending on the time of year
These timbers are supplied UNTREATED, additional treatment can be applied once the Larch has been given some time to dry. Our Larch is a mixture of heartwood and sapwood. Larch is natural resinous which helps it to ‘fight decay and insect attack’. The life expectancy is approx. 10-15 above ground and longer with some additional care.

Why can’t I Buy Larch Battens?
The primary use for a Larch batten in the UK right now is for Venetian fencing (Horizontal batten)
UK grown Larch and even European Larch is not really suitable for this purpose due to the climate in which it is grown. The level of movement in these battens will ruin the clean lines expected in contemporary fencing. We would recommend our redwood batten or Canadian Douglas Fir as an alternative to the popular Siberian Larch batten. Siberian Larch is not currently available due to the conflict between Russia & Ukraine. Many merchants are offering European larch as an alternative but it is not really suitable for this particular application. Here at Egerton’s Timber we try to help you navigate the timber jargon and sell products that will suit your needs.
